Mother's Day Brunch 2017

For the past few years, I've hosted a Mother's Day brunch at home. This is something I really enjoy doing! It was a little different this year because it was the first time I was hosting as a mama myself! It definitely took a little extra time in terms of preparation but I think it turned out just as wonderful as it normally does!

In this post, I would like to share the many aspects of this brunch and will provide links to recipes, templates, etc. for everything I used and prepared!

But before I get into all the preparations, look at my adorable little love bug on our first Mother's Day together! Isn't she just the cutest?!

Now that you got to see my sweet little Lucy, let's get started with everything I (and my amazingly helpful husband) prepared!

For starters, the table setting is really important to me! For some reason, having a beautifully set table makes my meal much more enjoyable so I always try to make the table setting elegant but relaxed!

I bought the flowers for my centerpieces at Whole Foods Market. I pretty much always buy my flowers there because they have a beautiful, fresh assortment! When making a centerpiece, I choose one larger flower as the focal point (peonies), something tall to give the arrangement some height (stock), and a smaller flower to make it look full (miniature roses). I really love peonies. They are such a gorgeous flower and will make any arrangement look absolutely beautiful! I included peonies in my bridal bouquet and to this day, I still think my bouqet was my favorite part of my wedding! Well, besides marrying the most amazing man, of course!

Speaking of our wedding, we are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends who gave us the most marvelous china. The Wedgewood English Lace Collection is simple, yet stunning. If you are looking for a classy set that will never go out of style, this is definitely the way to go!

This year, I wanted to tuck a menu into my napkins for an added touch. I found this absolutely perfect template from Craftberry Bush. Everything on this website is gorgeous and I highly recommend checking it out! I downloaded the font, called Sunday, for free!

In addition to the menu, I also like to present a little favor at each seat for all of my lovely guests to take home. This year I made thyme bath salts for everyone. I will tell you that they smell amazing and I think everyone enjoyed them! For instructions on how to make this easy favor, check out my Thyme Bath Salts blog post!

Now that we've gone through pretty much all components of the table settings, we can get into the food!

This spread, of course, was entirely plant-based/vegan! Some of these recipes are my own and some are recipes from others. I have provided links to my blog posts for my personal recipes and links to websites and other blogs for recipes that I found online! (Everything in italics below is a link!)

The full menu consisted of:

Avocado Toast

Roasted Potatoes

Seasonal Fruit

Tea Sandwiches:

*My mother-in-law made this and recommends doubling the amount of veggies!

Also, in addition to the food, we had plenty of mimosas with an assortment of juices! It just wouldn't be brunch without mimosas, now would it?

I hope you have found some inspiration in this post for hosting your next event and new recipes to try!

Happy Brunching!
